What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

A city where all residents can afford to live, eat, and take care of their families. A city that is looking ahead and being proactive in city planning. A city where all residents can access the goods and services they need. A city where kids are safe in their schools and are learning a wide variety of topics and being exposed to diverse perspectives. A city where we are all respected and accepted for the diverse perspectives and experiences we bring.

What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?

I don't know how secret it is but Knoxville is beautiful. When I am driving in some parts of the city, I am in awe at the natural beauty.

What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?

Focus on our school system. Make sure all schools have the resources they need to support teachers and students. Increase public transportation routes and accessibility. Affordable housing and livable wages.

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

There are so many but not too long before Regas closed, I somehow ended up with the recipe for their blueberry muffins. Oh those muffins were so good! I loved going there with my grandmother because it was such a special treat.

What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?

How to be an Anti Racist; Ground Zero; and Crucial Conversations

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

As long as you are acting from a place of love, it will be ok. Thank you Miriam Esther Wilhelm for that advice.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Treat yourself with respect and be clear in what you want. Also, listen before speaking. Really listen - don't just wait until the other person is done talking but actually listen to what they say.
