What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?
My vision for Knoxville is to have vibrant and inclusive youth programs that empower young people to become responsible citizens and dynamic leaders within our community. Leadership development is the cornerstone of this vision. This commitment to leadership will create a ripple effect, inspiring citizens of all ages to give back and strengthen the fabric of our community. By realizing this vision, Knoxville will be home to a generation of engaged, compassionate, and capable individuals - ready to lead, serve, and celebrate all that makes our city extraordinary.
What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?
Simple - it's the people. Whether you've lived here your entire life or just arrived, you'll find a community defined by kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine connection. Having lived in many places through work, I can confidently say that Knoxville's citizens are what make this city a place worth calling home.
What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?
I would focus on deepening community involvement by fostering meaningful partnerships between local businesses and non-profits. These collaborations would promote shared resources, amplify services, and create new opportunities for residents to engage and thrive. By connecting organizations with a common purpose, we can build a more resilient and inclusive community.
What is your favorite Knoxville memory?
My favorite Knoxville memory is attending UT football games as a kid. The energy of Neyland Stadium, the sea of orange, and the roar of the crowd made every game unforgettable. Hearing names like Jimmy Streater, Johnny Majors, or John Ward instantly takes me back to those cherished moments. It's a timeless connection to Knoxville that still makes me feel like a kid again.
What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?
Two of them, Sport is Life and 5 Simple Things
What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?
The most impactful advice I received came from my high school soccer coach: "You play like you practice" and "Be willing to give 110% effort, in all that you do." These words shaped how I approach every challenge - with preparation, discipline, and wholehearted commitment. That advice continues to guide me, reminding me that how you show up every day determines how far you'll go.
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
Slow down. Don't rush through life trying to reach the next milestone. Take time to soak in the moments, embrace the ups and downs, and truly enjoy the journey. Make memories that matter - ones filled with laughter, growth, and connection. Life isn't a race; it's a collection of experiences that shape who you become. Savor them.
