What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?
We need to become a national model for mid-sized cities. A well thought out and connected infrastructure will lead to sustainable growth. Education, culture, arts, health, wellness and economic development will follow and have space to thrive.
What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?
BKW - Big Kahuna Wings. By far the best chicken wings in Tennessee and its not even close!
What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?
We need to put more time, money and effort into our school system. We have great teachers but they need help! If we invest more in our young, it will pay dividends when they are leading this city.
What is your favorite Knoxville memory?
Going to my first UT Football game with my Dad. I don't remember who we played but I remember being floored.
What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?
The Experience of Leadership by Fred Stuvek Jr.
What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?
When I was a kid my parents told me that I had a strong back and a weak mind. I believe that has helped get me to where I am today.
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
Its fine if you do not know what you want to do when you grow up. You have the rest of your life to figure it out. Try everything that interests you and if it doesn't, move on but don't stop trying new things. You will meet people along the way that will help point you in the right direction.
