My hope for Knoxville is simple - that every family has a place to call home, and every child has the opportunity to succeed through education.

I believe Knoxville's best-kept secret is its people. We have a community that's incredibly generous and always willing to step up for one another. I hope Knoxville doesn't lose that as it grows.

I want to help make Knoxville a place where people from every background and every walk of life can thrive, feel welcome, and have the opportunity to succeed.

Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neal Hurston is my all time favorite book and I read it once a year.

My grandmother was my most important mentor. She always told my brother and me to never stop learning because education is power, and that knowledge, character, and hard work are things no one can ever take away from you.

I'd tell my 16 year old self that life won't always go as planned, and that's okay. Stay curious, work hard, give yourself grace, and never underestimate the power of kindness. The detours will often lead you exactly where you're meant to be.
