The best kept secret in Knoxville is how to secure a parking pass for a University of Tennessee home football game. Only kidding. Knoxville's best-kept secret is its remarkably strong food scene. Knoxville has quietly built a collection of chef-driven restaurants that consistently earn national recognition. Specifically, Knoxville has several restaurants included in the Michelin guide, despite being a much smaller market than many major food cities.

I want to help strengthen Knoxville by bringing people together from every walk of life to build a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable community. I believe our city's greatest resource is its people, and by encouraging collaboration among residents, businesses, educators, nonprofits, artists, entrepreneurs, and local leaders, we can create opportunities that benefit everyone.

The best advice I've ever received came from my long-time mentor, Steve Early, at the Vol Network: "Always do the right thing." Those five words have guided my career for more than 25 years. They've shaped how I lead teams, build trusted relationships, make difficult decisions, and serve colleagues, partners, and the community. I've learned that integrity is a daily commitment. When you consistently do the right thing, you earn trust, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities that endure long after any single transaction or success. It's simple advice, but it's become the foundation of my leadership philosophy.

If I could give my 16-year-old self advice, it would be to remember that success is built on more than talent or opportunity. It comes from the choices you make every day. Work hard, stay curious, and always give your best effort. The discipline and commitment you develop along the way will open doors you never expected. Just as important, take the time to build genuine relationships. Treat people with respect, learn from others, and surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you. The connections you make throughout life will become some of your greatest sources of opportunity, support, and friendship. Most importantly, always do the right thing even when no one is watching. Your character and integrity will define you far more than any title, achievement, or possession ever could. Remember that true success is not only measured by what you accomplish, but also by the positive impact you have on others. Helping people, serving your community, and making a difference in the lives of those around you is one of the greatest sources of fulfillment and happiness. Work hard. Build relationships. Lead with integrity. And never forget that a life spent helping others is a life well lived.
