What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

I fell in love with Knoxville because it offers the opportunities of a big city with the warmth of a small town. As it grows, I hope it preserves its "Scruffy City" character and sense of community that make it so special.

What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?

I'm not sure it's a secret anymore, but Knoxville's restaurant scene may be one of the best in the South for a city its size. The quality, variety, and local character are hard to beat. Our family loves supporting hometown favorites and unique gems like Big Ed's Pizza, Calhoun's, and French Market Creperie.

What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?

For Knoxville to thrive, it must continue to maintain a strong economy. I would love to see Knoxville become the most business-friendly city in the country by maintaining low taxes, investing thoughtfully in infrastructure, and expanding access to affordable housing so employees and families can continue to call Knoxville home.

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

My grandfather often told me, "A job worth doing is a job worth doing well." When a task or project becomes challenging, those words remind me to resist the temptation of shortcuts and instead stay focused on doing the job the right way.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

While studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam, I came across the quote, "If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right." That mindset has stayed with me throughout my life and career. If there is one piece of advice I would share with younger individuals, it would be to have confidence in their abilities and never underestimate what they can achieve with determination and hard work.
