CURRENT CLASS

I grew up in Knoxville and loved it. It seems to me that it is no longer a secret that Knoxville is a great place to live and raise a family. I hope that Knoxville keeps it charm and scruffiness as it continues to grow over the next 10 years.

I don't think people realize how special Knoxville's accessibility is. I love that I can go for a hike in Great Smoky Mountains, be on the lake, and go to a wonderful meal and catch a show. I don't know many places where you can do all of this in a single day.

As Knoxville grows, I believe it is very important to continue to invest in schools and infrastructure. It seems that Knoxville has a major traffic issue considering its size. I think that strengthening the city's infrastructure and having quality public education are important to people who already live here and people looking to move to Knoxville.

The Game of Thrones series have been my favorite books I have read so far. Currently I am reading Theo of Golden and thoroughly enjoying it.

One night I got into an argument with a General Contractor we were working with on a project and it infuriated me. I called my boss David Mink (LK Alum) and told him how infuriated I was, and he informed me that one of the employees we worked with had died in a car crash with his wife that evening. We talked about how although work in important there are a lot more significant things in life. His words and this event changed how I look at my own work life balance.

You don't have to have everything figured out. I was never somebody that knew exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up. I majored in business at UT because I liked working with people and my father and mother both graduated from the college of business there. I received a job offer in the construction field when I graduated college even though I knew nothing about construction. My family knew the owners and leadership of the company and told me that it would be a good opportunity. Now 18 years later I with the same company I have realized that it might not always be about the specific job you are looking for but rather the people you work with and for.
