What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?
1. Safer, more welcoming/inclusive, and more affordable for all. 1a. More opportunities for young minorities and residents of low income areas.
What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?
Our people - when we get involved and get to know our neighbors and others in our community a whole new world opens up - and there are so many inspiring people, gorups, and ideas out there!
What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?
Work towards inclusivity - we can accomplish so much more together rather than distinctly divided by race. Far too many African Americans have the viewpoint that much of what is available in the community, and much of what needs to be done in the community, what much of what is going on around us is "for the others but not for us." While far too many of the majority do not consider the plights and view points of our minorities. A stronger and more involved minority community equals a stronger and more involved Knoxville.
What is your favorite Knoxville memory?
UT vs Alabama, 2022
What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?
The Bible
What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?
When I was in my mid twenties, a well-connected businessman told me that when I am in a room surrounded by people that have done the things I aspire to do and achieved the levels of success that I aspire to - sit down, shut up, and LISTEN!
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
Learn to love doing things that benefit those outside of your immediate circle. If we sow seeds in good ground we will never lack.
