My vision for Knoxville in 10 years is a city that grows without losing its character. I want Knoxville to be known for safe neighborhoods, thriving local businesses, affordable housing, vibrant arts and culture, excellent public schools, and parks and greenways that connect every part of the City. I envision a community where innovation and entrepreneurship continue to create good-paying jobs, where infrastructure keeps pace with growth, and where people from every background have opportunities to succeed. Most importantly, I want Knoxville to remain a welcoming city that values its history while embracing the future.

Knoxville doesn't have just one "best-kept secret." What makes it special is the combination of things it offers. It's close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, home to a top public research university, and part of a region known for science, technology, and innovation. It has a growing economy, attracts new businesses and industries, excellent public schools, and still offers a relatively affordable, high quality of life. Those things together are what many people outside the area don't realize about Knoxville.

I would strengthen Knoxville by helping ensure that our growth is intentional. Knoxville is experiencing tremendous momentum, and with that momentum comes responsibility. We have an opportunity to grow our economy while preserving the character, neighborhoods, and sense of community that make this city special. For me, leadership means bringing people together to solve problems before they become crises. Whether the issue is economic development, housing, education, or public safety, I believe Knoxville benefits most when leaders are willing to collaborate across professions and viewpoints.

The best advice I ever received came from my dad: "Nothing is ever as good as it seems or as bad as it seems." This reminds me of perspective and to not take life too seriously. I find myself repeating this advice to young lawyers.
