What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

I see a thriving downtown with more community events where people from all over come to live, work and play. Local restaurants and small businesses will continue to play a big role in making our area unique. I see more sidewalks and bike lanes connecting neighborhoods all over the city and the continued expansion of the south waterfront.

What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?

The best kept secret in Knoxville is UT Gardens. I have spent so much time strolling and playing there with my children. It is beautiful in every season!

What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?

I'd love to see more neighborhoods within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and bars.

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

Growing up, I used to go to Boomsday every year with my family and friends. Best fireworks show ever!

What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?

Verity by Colleen Hoover is currently on my nightstand on loan from Abby Ham.

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

A co-anchor and close friend once told me no one owes me anything. His statement took me by surprise at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized he was right. Just because we work hard doesn't always mean we're going to get the next big gig or the outcome we hope for. Work hard anyway.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Be yourself! It's a beautiful thing when you can live authentically.
