I believe infrastructure and land-use planning will define Knoxville's next chapter. I envision a city where transportation improvements, thoughtful development, and protected green spaces work together to enhance quality of life. Knoxville will be easier to navigate, more connected across communities, and more resilient in how it manages growth. Small business growth will also define Knoxville's future. In 10 years, I hope entrepreneurs have continued access to capital, mentorship, and space to scale. A thriving small-business ecosystem makes Knoxville competitive, vibrant, and economically balanced.

Knoxville's best kept secret is the depth of its innovation economy, especially the advanced energy, research, and technology ecosystem that rivals what much larger cities are trying to build. Most people think of Knoxville as a college town or a gateway to the Smokies, but few realize that the Knoxville is home to world-class scientific talent, cutting-edge companies, and one of the most powerful research engines in the country. That combination creates something most cities wish they had: a pipeline of good jobs, a culture of problem-solving, and an economic foundation that's far more sophisticated than its size suggests. It's the kind of strength that doesn't always show up on postcards, but it absolutely shapes the region's future.

Small businesses are the backbone of Knoxville's economy, and I see every day how much potential exists when entrepreneurs have the right support. I would continue working closely with small business owners to help them grow responsibly, whether that's improving financial literacy, strengthening operations, or helping them navigate compliance and tax issues. When small businesses thrive, they create good jobs, invest in neighborhoods, and build the kind of local character that makes Knoxville unique.
