What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?
My vision for Knoxville 10 years from now is that we become a more collaborative and united city. Right now, I feel like we're still divided in many ways: by geography, by community identity, and sometimes even by opportunity. You hear people talk about South Knoxville, East Knoxville, West Knoxville, Farragut, A-E, Fulton - as if we're separate worlds. But I would love for us to move toward being one Knoxville. I would love to see us come together more, not just when a tragic incident happens in our city or in our country, but consistently through everyday moments, through shared efforts, through relationships that cross neighborhood lines. I want a Knoxville where every community feels seen, valued, and connected. Where we lift each other up, celebrate each other's wins, and face challenges side by side.
What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?
I believe that Wesley House Community Center is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret! It is truly a place of service and community and many people have never heard of it.
What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?
I think empowering and supporting our systemically disadvantaged communities would strengthen Knoxville. I would love more opportunities for them to thrive instead of just surviving.
What is your favorite Knoxville memory?
I miss Booms Day!
What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?
Verity by Colleen Hoover
What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?
"You never know when the interview started and you never know when it has ended."
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
Read! Read! Read!
