CURRENT CLASS

As someone who grew up in Knoxville and has lived here my entire life, it has been amazing to see how much more vibrant the city has become compared to my youth. Looking ahead 10 years, I hope to see the continued success of our local businesses while ensuring we don't lose Knoxville's unique, "scruffy" charm. Additionally, given my background in youth development, I would love to see a thriving school system that supports all youth city-wide in their educational journeys, providing them with as many opportunities as possible to be successful.

Pretentious Glass & Beer, which is hands down the most unique business in town. It is a fantastic spot where you can watch high-end glassblowing while drinking a cold, handcrafted beer out of a glass made right in the same space. It is a great space for a date night or for hanging out with friends.

There is so much that I love about Knoxville, but one area that I would love to see thrive is the waterfront. Since our city already has great outdoor spaces, transforming the waterfront into a destination spot - similar to Chattanooga - would further strengthen what makes Knoxville great.

Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to have many great mentors who invested in me. One piece of advice that has always stuck with me, and that I share with young people every chance I get, came from John Lasher at the Boys & Girls Club. He told me, "If you mess up, just admit it, learn from it, and get better."

Always ask the question. Ask for help. Let people know when you are struggling.
