What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?
Knoxville is my home. I have children and grandchildren and I want it to be their home too. My vision for Knoxville: A strong local economy and robust job training, strong public and private education at all levels, safety of our person, our property and our community unquestioned. Knoxville be on the "best" list nationwide for places to live, work and raise a family.
What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?
The people. Our ability to have small community feel within a large community.
What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?
Train and support those coming behind us. It is the people that make or break any community.
What is your favorite Knoxville memory?
I was not thrilled as a mother with a young family when we relocated to Knoxville over 40 years ago from Florida for a job opportunity. We arrived in January and it was the coldest, ugliest place I could ever remember having to live. Four months later it bloomed into one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen. I really was amazed in its transformation. Have fallen in love with Knoxville from that moment forward.
What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?
Books written by high ranking advisors that have served our leaders on the National and International level.
What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?
My dad was a fighter pilot, veteran of three wars and the smartest person I have ever known. His words always to me "sweetie, be true to you, to God and never forget what our Country has done to allow you to do it.
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
Listen to mom and dad. They were way smarter than I ever gave them credit for at that age.
