What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

Knoxville will be a community that is resilient, inclusive and thriving. It is transformed into a community where all neighborhoods are flourishing. A place where mental and physical health is no longer a crisis, but a priority. Knoxville is the type of community that vibrates with creativity, talent and innovation.

What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?

The expansive urban wilderness! A massive stretch of trails, woods and lakes right here in the city. You can hike, bike, paddle or wander without driving hours to get to the mountains. Ijams, Meads Quarry, Forks of the River - so many gems!

What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?

Create a resource center to connect all of the amazing nonprofits and community service organizations so residents had one place to go to connect to all of the resources our community has to offer.

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

Taking a walk downtown on Gay St seeing tourists being dazzled by the sights and sounds of our community.

What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?

The 5am Club

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

A former boss of mine told me to always seek opportunities to grow and learn so I was prepared for the day IF the name on the outside of the building ever changed. It's a reminder that your value isn't defined by the logo you work under, but by the skills, relationships, and impact you carry with you. The fact that the name on the building did change years later makes his advice feel almost prophetic. It's a testament to how unpredictable the professional landscape can be, and how crucial it is to build a career that's resilient, adaptable, and self-directed.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

The future is wildly more fantastic than you can imagine so trust that your hard work and perseverance will be worth it. Remain pathologically optimistic especially on the days that it is the hardest to see the silver lining. The world needs someone just like you.
