What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?
I want to see downtown to continue to stretch especially North, East, and South. There's so much opportunity for cool development. We can be a beacon of the Southeast.
What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?
There's something for everybody. Metro, nature, education, proximity to massive cities, airport, etc. I feel like most people come here for one thing and never experience the others.
What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?
I would work to improve what I see as Knoxville's greatest weakness - the "Mission District". I don't have the answers here, but there surely is a way to create better outcomes for the homeless population while also eliminating an area of avoidance on Broadway.
What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?
Rich Dad Poor Dad
What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?
"Build a life that has you running to your work with the same conviction, enthusiasm, and joy that you have when you run home to your family." I had a Grad School professor share this with me - I can't place which one it was though.
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
Learn to enjoy learning more.
