What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?
In 10 years, I envision Knoxville as a city of thriving, connected communities where every young person has meaningful relationships, every neighborhood has opportunities to succeed, and collaboration drives lasting impact for everyone.
What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?
Knoxville's willingness to collaborate. Businesses, nonprofits, schools, universities, and local government regularly come together to solve problems in ways that many communities only talk about.
What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?
I'd work to ensure every young person has at least one caring adult in their corner. Strengthening those relationships is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in Knoxville's future.
What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?
Of Boys and Men by Richard V. Reeves. It deepened my understanding of the challenges facing boys today and strengthened my conviction that mentoring is one of the most powerful investments we can make in the next generation.
What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?
One of the best pieces of advice I've received came from my father: "Don't be scared of difficult things." It's a simple reminder that the greatest growth and impact are often found on the other side of challenges.
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
Say yes to opportunities that scare you. Growth rarely happens in your comfort zone, and the relationships you build will matter more than you can imagine.
